Why should I pay for FileLocator Pro when Agent Ransack is free?

RSS
On an almost daily basis we receive emails from keen Agent Ransack users asking for small improvements in the product, something regarding sorting, moving or hiding columns etc. Obviously we're very grateful for all suggestions but invariably we point them towards FileLocator Pro which already has the requested enhancement. This may sound like an underhand way to extract money from faithful users but there are important factors that make it a necessity:

Code Complete

On a practical side FileLocator Pro is our main code base. That's where all new features start and the architecture is continuously refactored. When we have time we try to move some of the features into Agent Ransack but there's no guarantee when this will happen.

Bills Bills Bills

On the cold commercial side Mythicsoft needs to pay its bills. We'd love to give all our software away for free but unfortunately writing and supporting our products incurs costs. There are many different revenue generating models out there from ad-based to subscription based. However, we think the simplest and least obtrusive is to provide an opportunity for people who use and value the software to contribute to its costs by upgrading to FileLocator Pro.

It's a win-win situation. Our customers get a much better product and we get a sustainable environment where we can continuously improve the products and provide first class support.

Why upgrade?

Some people have said that Agent Ransack is almost too good and fulfils all their requirements so why should they upgrade? Other people have said FileLocator Pro is so much better than Agent Ransack that we should remove Agent Ransack to force people into giving FileLocator Pro a try. We'll let you decide but either way we're just happy to have you as a Mythicsoft customer.
