Microsoft provides a free IFilter for searching Visio .vsd files, which FileLocator Pro can use to search through Visio files. However, during the Microsoft install the filter is not registered properly and a small registry change is required before the filter will work with FileLocator Pro.
WARNING: The following changes require editing the Registry. If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
Steps:
1. Download the Visio IFilter
2. Run RegEdit
3. Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{FAEA5B46-761B-400E-B53E-E805A97A543E}\InprocServer32
4. Add a new String value called ThreadingModel and set the value to Both
5. Run FileLocator Pro
6. You should now see VSD listed in the Documents tab.
7. Activate the filter by checking the VSD check box.
Now whenever you search VSD files.
