When the PST Interpreter is active FileLocator Pro treats PST files as part of the file system (just like ZIP files). The file name for each item is taken from the email's subject so use that to restrict which items are returned from the PST file.
NOTE: Avoid the temptation of setting the file name to '*.pst', which effectively restricts the search to only emails with an unlikely subject of '.pst'. Instead use location filters (see Example 2 below).
Example 1 - List all items in a PST File1. Make sure PST is checked in the Compressed files tab
2. Clear both the File name and Containing text fields on the Main tab
3. Put the location of the PST file in the Look In field, e.g. C:\Archives\MyEmail.pst
4. Run the search
You should see all items listed.
Example 2 - Search for a specific email amongst a group of PST files1. Again, make sure that PST is checked in the Compressed files tab
2. Set the File name field to the Subject of the email you're searching for (or empty if unknown)
3. Set the Containing text field to the contents within the email that you're searching for
4. Set the location of the folder to start the search, e.g. C:\Archives
5. Apply a location filter to the location to limit the search to just .pst files, e.g. C:\Archives;+.pst
6. Run the search
